Acornmoon: The Art of Valerie Greeley

by - Sunday, September 13, 2009

One of the artists and bloggers that I read on a regular basis and whom I consider a favorite is the incredibly talented and delightfully unassuming Valerie Greeley. She blogs at Acornmoon, an art and craft journal where she shares her love for handmade and handprinted books, illustrations, fabric/surface design, nature and garden. Her nature walks with her dog Ted are often a source of inspiration for most of her designs.

As a surface and fabric designer, she designs beautiful quilt fabrics inspired by charming English countryside sceneries, hedgerows, seasonal nature delights and woodland creatures. Her charming fabric collections
(Hedgerow, Herb Garden & Nestled in Springtime) designed for Makower UK are available at Tabby Cat, a UK based fabric emporium that specializes in fine, artist-designed fabrics. Her very detailed fabric designs are a quilter's joy!
Aside from designing fabrics of exceptional intricacy and detail, Valerie has also authored, designed and illustrated a number of picture books and gift books.More information about her whimsically illustrated books can be found at Books Illustrated Ltd and Zybooks Artist Books Online. Her surface pattern design talent has also produced a beautiful collection of hudson and middleton bone china designer mugs as well as fine array of products such as greeting cards, aprons, tote bags and tee shirts. All of these products are available at her Zazzle Shop. For purveyors of the fine art of handmade books (illustrated, printed and bound by Valerie herself), Valerie has an ETSY shop that offers handmade books and gifts.
